Sri Lankan Dhal Curry | Parippu Hodda
Ingredients:
1 cup of dhal ( before shocking )
1tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp chilli flakes
1 1/2 tsp unroasted Sri Lankan curry powder
Salt to taste
1 medium-size onion chopped
1-2 green chillies chopped
1 tsp chopped garlic
Curry leaves
1 1/2 cups of water
1 cup of coconut milk or fresh milk
Instructions:
1. Sock 1 cup of dhal for 10 minutes, wash well with water ( 3-4 times ).
2. Add some oil into the pan, when it's hot add mustard seeds, let it pop. Add chopped onion. Green chillies, chopped garlic & curry leaves.
3. Stir well for 1 minute. Add the spices stir well, now add the soaked dhal stir and let it cook for 1 minute.
4. Add 1 1/2 cups of water, give it a stir, let it come to a boil.
5. The lid on cook for 5 minutes or until the dhal is cooked on medium-low heat.
6. Add 1 cup of coconut milk or cows milk.
7. Give it a stir. Let it come to a boil...
Dhal curry is ready...
