We're revisiting one of the first PHEVs we drove on TestDrive. Our Snapshot is on this 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT S-AWC to see what's new for 2020 and if it's still worth the price for a ~30km plug-in hybrid SUV. PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: https://teespring.com/stores/prn This video was made possible with the support of Elmec and their EVduty Smart Home Charger. You can schedule, control access, and even see your estimated charging costs from the EVduty smartphone app. Use public charging stations and grant access to your own all from the app. For more information about the EVduty Smart Home Charger visit: https://www.elmec.ca/language/en/ Almost two years ago we had the chance to feature the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT S-AWC, in fact we drove it briefly at the start of 2018 at the Québec City Salon de l'Auto on a winter off-road course, and then we featured it fully on TestDrive later into summer. We're looking at the Outlander again, this time for the 2020 model year to see what's changed, and what's stayed the same. For 2019 the Outlander received a small exterior facelift, you'd have to know what you're looking for to notice. The grille changed slightly, the fog lights and surrounds were updated, and LED high beams were added. Out back the badging swapped sides. In Europe though the Outlander received an updated 13.8 kWh Li-ion battery and a 2.4L Atkinson-cycle 4 cylinder engine, however here in Canada and the United States we kept the same 12 kWh battery and 2.0L MIVEC DOC engine. The European/Japanese models also have a sport mode and snow mode, whereas our vehicles only get an Eco mode with the 4WD Lock button. The interior received an update for 2020 also, with a new infotainment system, the deletion of the 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system which has been replaced with an 8 speaker Mitsubishi Power Sound System. Some of the button placement has changed for this model year also, along with the addition of a new diamond-quilted leather finish. We go over the changes from the one we featured two years ago, along with pricing for our Red Diamond premium metallic paint which was brought over from the Eclipse Cross. We then take the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT S-AWC on a real-world road test to talk about how this vehicle performs, how the 4WD system works in EV mode, and how the fuel economy was for this vehicle, along with the full EV range we got out of it. We wrap up by giving some reasons for and against spending about $52,000 on this mid-size plug-in SUV along with our final thoughts on this vehicle.
