We took a day trip from Aswan, takes about 3 hrs (one way) to get there. The group of buses or convoy is escorted by the military, as it goes through a controlled area. Abu simbel is just 25 miles/40 kms from the border with Sudan. My friend from Poland, joined me on this trip & we explored Egypt together.
