Spanish vs. Portuguese - Let’s compare these romance languages with 40 words, read by native Spanish and Portuguese speakers. Improve your Spanish and Portuguese pronunciation by repeating the words out loud.
Whether in Europe or South America, Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking communities are often geographic neighbors. Though Portuguese originated in Europe, it spread to modern day Brazil in the 16th century, and is now spoken by over 200 million people in the South American country - nearly 20x the population of Portuguese speakers in Portugal.
In this video, we’ll compare words (Spanish vs. Portuguese) for animals, colors, and numbers. Make note of words that are spelled the same, but not pronounced the same - there are quite a few!

@nova44762 years agoAs someone who grew up speaking Spanish (and English), Brazilian Portuguese is a lot more appealing than Portuguese from Portugal. It’s a lot more rhythmic and beautiful to listen to. There’s something about the accent that’s very inviting. I originally became interested in it after seeing a lot of Brazilians commenting on videos and being able to understand most of what they were saying. Pronunciation is a different story but it’s fun regardless. It’s the first language I’m serious about becoming fluent in. I’m only a couple months in but I’m already falling in love with it. Much love to Brazil 🇧🇷❤️🇲🇽 ...56
