Should you film your videos in 24fps, 30fps, or 60fps? I filmed this video in 3 parts to show what each frame rate looks like and touch on where they started and why we use these frame rates for different types of things. 24fps Video: /watch/EUWRcHBfvkSfR 30fps Video: /watch/sRLnJK8UWuhUn Gemini Man in 60fps: /watch/s7lDAIP8R-t8D Lightroom Presets and Luts: http://bit.ly/2BuOV3R Main camera: https://amzn.to/2xNBEVj Wide Portrait Lens: https://amzn.to/2Y3BnrN Normal Portrait Lens: https://amzn.to/2yNpED2 Portrait lens for Bokeh Lovers: https://amzn.to/357pumj Camera Monitor: https://amzn.to/3ayxzRX Favorite everyday Gimbal: https://amzn.to/3bzo06G Cinema Camera: https://amzn.to/2Y545IX Cine Lens for wide shots: https://amzn.to/2VBdHcI Standard cine lens: https://amzn.to/2KAoca8 Bokeh Lovers cine lens: https://amzn.to/3ax3mCY Full Gear List: https://kit.co/TheErwinM Follow me on Instagram: http://instagram.com/erwinmarionneaux Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/TheErwinM Business Inquiries: Erwin.Marionneaux@gmail.com

@petrub274 years ago I shoot in 50 fps but with 1/50 shutter speed not 1/100
so it plays with blur on a 25 fps timeline, but if i need slomo, i have that as well.

@YousefAH4 years ago Hey man love your stuff. 2 things.
    1. You can show multiple frame rates in the same video. A client of mine shoots at 24 fps but i set my timeline 2. I loove 60 fps and i consider it part of my style and identity. Maybe it has something to do with playing video games so much when i was growing up? The whole " it doesn' t look cinematic if it isn' t 24 fps" comes from the masses just being used to it. While i agree it changes the feel, i don' t agree it should be the default for high quality. As a creative, it' s up to us to push the envelope, do new things, and to challenge the conventional. I feel i do that with 60fps. Honestly, the second youtube starts showing 120fps video, i' m going to buy a camera that records at that frame rate and i' ll start filming in it. I have a 165hz monitor and just love how buttery smooth everything is.
i love the look of gemini man in 60fps. And i loved the hobbit at 48fps

@DiyEcoProjects3 years ago Hi there, how it going? Hope things are good. May i ask you a question about frame rates please? I have an osmo pocket and learning about frame rate @ id like to take 4k stock footage of nature, what frames rates and shutter speeds are they looking for please? Im trying to avoid trees jittering as i pan, id like it to look smooth. I can only film in 60fps to avoid the trees looking smooth when i pan. I guess this means my shutter is automatically 120
any help would be greatly apprecaited, all the best kieron

@SantiagoMonroy54 years ago I think that if you' re not slowing down, you should shoot 60fps at 1/60, since it creates motion blur and doesn' t look like a videogame, and if there are exceptions like sports but yeah, definitely prefer 1/60 than 1/120 (1/125) for 60fps. ...Expand 1

@ftk-alt2 years ago I can immediately tell 24 vs 30fps. The 24 was slow andfor me. Harder for me to watch and digest. The 30fps however, has more video for me to watch and understand.
the 60fps here, doesnt have much big difference if you are shooting stills and static frame.
the 60fps is more suitable for outdoor and any movement type of scenario.
for in my opinion: 24 fps, slow steady cinematic documentary style for personal use. 30fps for everyday normal use eg: family gathering, walk in a park. 60fps: extreme movement like jogging, hiking ( sports action

@busterbronc99934 years ago Do yourself a favor and google this:
how quickly does the human brain process an image on average
spoiler: youll find out its 13 mill id="hidden19"iseconds. There are 1, 0 milliseconds in a second.
    1, 0 milliseconds divided by 13 milliseconds = 76. 923 frames per second
the human brain processes images at 76. 923fps, so claiming that 24 fps or 30 fps is better, is contrary to scientific fact.
the reason why we like 24 fps is because that is the old technology that was used worldwide for decades and we became totally used to it.
watch the clips i posted in my other comments in 24 fps and 60 fps, and it is so obvious with the water splash and moving car.
you can tell that jeep in the clip is driving about 5 to 10mph. You actually think you would see any blur with a car moving 5 to 10 mph in real life?
why do you think more and more manufacturers are moving towards 60fps recording? Because its much closer to the frame rate the human brain actually processes images
